About riva
Founded in Sarnico, Italy, in 1842, the cornerstone for the Riva Yachts brand was placed when shipbuilder Pietro Riva began repairing damage to the local fishing boats by a sudden storm.
Pietro Riva’s reputation for quality craftsmanship led to more projects until the decision was made to build yachts of his own design. With the launch of Riva Shipyards, one of Italy’s oldest and most recognizable luxury yacht brands was born.
As control passed to Pietro’s son, Ernesto Riva, the shipyard entered a new era of growth and prosperity. As the younger man embraced new technologies, such as internal combustion engines, Riva powerboats gained popularity.
Riva was already a successful powerboat builder when the next generation took the helm and introduced racing yacht designs that broke powerboat racing records worldwide. Riva’s brand recognition was catapulted into the public eye in the 1960s when fourth-generation boat builder, Carlo Riva, foresaw the importance of elegance and style in the company’s future designs.
With a new generation of luxury powerboats built with the highest quality materials and extreme attention to detail, Riva’s beautiful designs and elegant trimmings drove the brand to become the powerboat owned by movie stars and royalty worldwide.
Today, Riva has returned to their roots to build luxury yachts recognized for their beauty and elegance. Whether discussing the timeless designs of the stunning 24- to 30-foot Aquariva and Iseo Open models, or the Argo and Dolcevita superyachts, the same words are often repeated.
