Sanlorenzo SX100: Luxury Meets Explorer Practicality

Sanlorenzo SX100
Sanlorenzo SX100

This 100-footer from Sanlorenzo is a part of the popular SX series that also includes a 76, 88, 100, 112, and a 120. The boats are meant to be crossover yachts that meld the rugged practicality of an explorer with the luxurious appointments of a proper motoryacht. The yacht has a rugged exterior designed by Zuccon International Project and a beachy and welcoming interior arranged by Lissoni & Partners.

The fast-displacement hull designed by Lou Codega can glide through the water at up to 23 knots thanks to quad Volvo Penta IPS1050s rated at 800 horsepower a piece. However the yacht is happier cruising around 10 knots where range should be close to 1,450 nautical miles depending on a few factors. The SX100 comes in either three- or four-stateroom configurations—all of which are en suite. The base price for this model $11.6 million.

Sanlorenzo SP92: Sporty, Sustainable Performance

Another option from Sanlorenzo that we like a lot is the SP92. This sporty model stands out for a few reasons. Namely, she has excellent performance numbers; a cool, minimalist design; and a focus on sustainability that we find inspiring. The low-slung lines were penned by Zuccon International Project and convey the feeling of a boat that was meant to boogie. To that end the SP92 has a top speed approaching 40 knots, in large part due to her burly, twin 2,000- horsepower MAN V12s matched to waterjets. Her cruise speed is equally fast, logging in at a zippy 35 knots.

The SP92 is constructed with material borrowed from the aeronautical world to help keep weight down and minimize fuel consumption. She also has highly efficient monocrystalline solar panels on top of her superstructure that generate enough power to operate the boat at hotel load.

Ferretti Infynito 90: Innovative Design and Versatility

Ferretti Infynito 90
Ferretti Infynito 90

One of the more innovative designs in recent years is the Infynito series from Ferretti, which represents a real departure from what we normally see on the docks. The Infynito 90 is the larger boat in the two-yacht Infynito lineup—she has a little sister in the Infynito 80. This model stands out for its bold design which showcases a private, semi-alfresco “All-Seasons Terrace” on the main deck. The space can be outfitted with a spa, bar, or seating lounge. But it’s not just exterior spaces that make the Infynito shine.

The 90 also is right on trend with expansive interior volume. Her boxier lines create living spaces that feel far too big to be aboard an 88 footer like this one. The 90 is also the first Ferretti with an enclosed skylounge deck. This design decision makes her an excellent choice for cruising in more extreme climes, be it in the sizzling heat of the Caribbean or the chilly nights of New England. The yacht sleeps eight guests in four staterooms and typically runs with three crew. She’d be an excellent choice for clients looking to do some longer stays aboard.

Bluegame BGM75: Chic, Stable Multihull Performance

Bluegame BGM75
Bluegame BGM75

One of the reasons we have always liked Bluegame is for their intrepid designs. The BGM75 is a good example of this. This daring multihull combines the stability and volume that comes from a catamaran with performance that feels more like a monohull—this thanks to a relatively narrow 26-foot, 8-inch beam. One of the things most people mention when they first see this boat, is that they are surprised it’s a cat. The overall look departs from the typical boxiness of catamarans and skews more chic and low-profile because of the graceful lines penned by Bernardo Zuccon.

The yacht enjoys exceptional maneuverability for a multihull thanks to twin Volvo Penta IPS engines that will have it gliding in and out of crowded marinas with no problem. Top speed is 22 knots while cruise is right around 17.

Interiors were done by Pierro Lissoni and stand out for being modern, beachy, and inviting, with liberal use of wood and rounded lines to make the space feel nautical and classic.

Pershing GTX70: Sporty Comfort and Functional Design

Pershing GTX70
Pershing GTX70

While Pershing is best known for its uber-sporty X line, the GTX series, which encompasses a 116, 80, and this new 70, has a focus on onboard comfort (while still retaining some shades of performance DNA). The 70 can hit 36 knots with the hammer down, so she is certainly fun when at the wheel. But the real highlights here for us are features like the foldout terraces at the swim platform which help create a large and very usable beach club.

Another feature that we like, but which might feel unusual on a Pershing is the galley. While Pershing galleys are traditionally situated down below away from entertainment spaces, the GTX70’s is not only on the main deck, it’s at amidships. This layout choice makes serving both the interior and exterior spaces on the boat equally easy. We love to see this level of functionality, and feel that our clients will too.

The GTX70 also has a surprisingly roomy flybridge that not only gives an additional space for lounging, but also helps open up the yacht’s other entertainment spaces, making the GTX70 a good choice for larger crowds.
