Med Show Roundup

|

The Cannes and Monaco shows both ended on high notes. Here are some of the favorite launches the IYG team saw at both.

367-Foot Freire Renaissance

The Med boat-show season did not disappoint this year, and was highlighted by events in Cannes and Monaco that were memorable to say the least. The Cannes show stood out for the sheer amount of models that made their world debut in the under-50-meter sector—with Italian-built boats making up the lion’s share. Meanwhile the Monaco Yacht Show sparkled with two of the biggest yachts ever put on display, including the 400-foot Lurssen Kismet and the 367-foot Freire Renaissance. The Italian Yacht Group was out in force at both shows, checking out the new product, and helping clients navigate the madness in their quest to find the boat of their dreams. Here are a few of the highlights the brokers saw in the South of France.

Arcadia A96

Patrick Hopkins and Morgan Sandoval were everywhere in Cannes, and they saw everything. One boat that really impressed Morgan was the Arcadia A96, a model that stands out for its sheer amount of interior volume, as well as its super-chic styling. “You could tell the attention to detail was very strong, and everything was gorgeous,” she says. “The unique multi-textured surface design really stood out, like in the master stateroom with its shiplap and stone mixed materials.”

Wider Acali

Meanwhile Patrick was taken with Acali, the first twin-hull launch from the innovative team at Wider. “It’s tough not to be interested in larger power catamarans,” he says. “The catamaran platform provides a way to maximize interior volume without having to focus on LOA. Catamarans have been the fastest-growing segment of yachting over the last few years, and they are getting much larger. “

He also made mention of the 43-meter Rossinavi hybrid-electric cat Sea Wolf X, a boat that has been making waves on social media all summer, and which was a major attraction in Monaco.

Another boat the IYG gang thought was impressive was the Mangusta Oceano 39. The three-deck yacht with massive windows was designed in conjunction with Alberto Mancini. A high level of fit and finish plus a five-stateroom layout that includes a master with its own balcony puts this boat a notch above the competition.

Also in Monaco, the Baglietto DOM 133 Barbara Anne made waves owing to her spacious interiors and inviting outer decks, which were highlighted by a Jacuzzi at the transom and a large skybridge lounge. All that space will be appreciated on longer cruises—the DOM has a range of 4,000 to 6,400 miles depending on how fast she is moving.

The Custom Line Navetta 38 from Italian giant Ferretti Group also impressed IYG in Monaco. This quadruple decker with a gross tonnage of 300 is a lot of boat at this size, and will have enough onboard space to keep guests comfortable while maintaining a certain level of intimacy. Perhaps the Navetta’s most striking feature is her beach club with fold-out terraces to either side. This design places guests close to the water, allowing them to gracefully commune with the marine environment they love. The boat’s interior is also focused on a connection to the sea, with large, opening windows to let in breezes and enhance the already trés chic vibes.

Lasty the Sanlorenzo 50Steel made a big impression on everyone who saw her in Monaco. The 50-meter vessel was built in La Spezia with a marked eco-conscious bent. Hotel load is powered by methanol and fuel-cell reformer technology, putting this yacht at the forefront of green technology in the industry, with a stated goal of carbon-neutral cruising. Almax was designed by Piero Lissoni and Zuccon International Project, and as such has style in spades to match her lofty green ambitions.

With the European shows concluding with flying colors and lots of exciting new product, the table is set for the American shows to kick off in full force this fall. It’s a natural progression that the IYG team is looking forward to see unfold. If you’d like to walk the docks with us at the Fort Lauderdale show, give us a call. We’d be happy to show you around.
