The recent launch and much-anticipated delivery of the 52-meter Baglietto Akula was a significant event for the Italian Yacht Group and all those involved.
The yacht splashed with fanfare earlier this summer in La Spezia, Italy; a culmination of years of collaborative work between the owner, the team at IYG, Baglietto Yachts, and the yacht’s designers.
This gorgeous vessel is for a repeat IYG client, who recently sold his 126 Sanlorenzo—also Akula—at last year’s Fort Lauderdale boat show. The yacht has interiors by the Italian designer Enrico Gobbi who is riding high after recently winning a Motoryacht of the Year accolade at the World Superyacht Awards. Akula will be in the Med all summer before shoving off for the Caribbean season next winter, where she will be enjoyed by both her owner and charter guests.
“This launch was a very special one for myself and for IYG,” says Boomer Jousma. “The quality of construction, the level of design, and the amount of effort put into this yacht by all parties really shine through here, and we are excited to see her thrive out in the world. Akula represents the very best of Italian boatbuilding, and we are thrilled to have been a key part of her creation.”
