Sanlorenzo: IYG’s Expert Take on an Italian Classic
The hallowed Italian boatbuilder is a favorite of IYG for some very good reasons.
Founded in 1958 by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia just outside of Florence, Italy, Sanlorenzo Yachts has long been considered an institution of Italian shipbuilding by yachtsmen worldwide. Sanlorenzo is unrivaled when it comes to building larger, highly customized vessels that encapsulate a certain timeless style that can immediately be spotted whether the boat is floating on some distant horizon, or being inspected up close.
All Sanlorenzos have classic lines that not only remain forever chic, but which also serve owners well on the resale market. And the onboard luxury of a Sanlorenzo will not be beat in this class of boat—with innovative electronics and propulsion packages, consummate levels of fit and finish, and ergonomic layouts designed for an onboard lifestyle that is as elegant as it is easy.
The Italian Yacht Group specializes in helping its clients buy and sell Sanlorenzos in large part thanks to the passion of George Jousma, whose name is part and parcel of the brand in the U.S. thanks to a decades-long relationship. Jousma loves Sanlorenzos for both their customizability and their readiness for the American market, thanks to open layouts and redundancies built in throughout the boats. Currently IYG has two Sanlorenzos on the market including Sori a 2021 Sanlorenzo SL86 and No Time to Die a Sanlorenzo SX88 launched in 2020.
The SL86 is a very popular model, of which IYG has already sold eight. Sori cruises at 26 knots and can accommodate eight guests in four staterooms, as well as three crewmembers. Her GRP hull and superstructure benefit from large, knife-like windows that serve to create an elegant and low-profile silhouette. Both her interior and exterior were done by Sanlorenzo’s Officina Italiana Design. She also has a gorgeous white paint job that sets her apart.
No Time to Die is part of Sanlorenzo’s much-loved SX series, which includes a 76, 88, and 112. This yacht is fully built to American spec and has an open galley that is excellent for entertaining. The yacht also has an open-transom concept that helps to create a massive beach club. She cruises at 23 knots thanks to triple Volvo Penta diesel engines.
IYG believes the potential owners for both of these boats will be a yachtsman who is ready to take the next step up the ladder in terms of luxury. Perhaps they are coming out of a smaller, production boat, and want something that will have more personalized touches.
